Exit Stage Right

Fred Thompson has thrown in the towel.

I can't imagine why anybody ever took his candidacy seriously: After much fanfare the whole show turned out to be a wet firecracker.

Perhaps the GOP was desperate for someone to emerge from the pack and lead them from the Wilderness...in any event he's done, and no doubt they're celebrating (quietly) at Huckabee HQ.

Now the GOP septegenerian squad is down to 2: McCain and crazy Ron Paul.

When the Dems have Gravel and Kucinich, it is tough to call Ron Paul crazy. He understands that Fed Polcy has caused this financial meltdown we are in. He wants to stop this stupid war right away. He is about the only candidate who understands "Blowback", that attacks on the US are largely a result of our policies in the MIddle East.

Rudy G. and his 9/11 and "they hate our freedom" remarks remind me of some senile, bald headed Chatty Cathy doll. Pull his string and he says 9/11, 9/11.

"Crazy" to seek the GOP nod on an "end the war platform..."crazy" to run as a Republican given that many of his public statements put him at odds with so much of the party...

.. the party.

It is a sad thing the party is a mere shadow if it's former self.

It isn't even the party of the Reagan Revolution cited by Obama as an example of change.

So where does an "Old Right" or Paleocon like me go, other than to the local pub for a pint?
